Signify Launches Dedicated Sport Division

Signify appoint Jake Marsh as Head of Signify Sport

We are delighted to announce the launch of our newly created sports division – Signify Sport

The news reflects the huge success Signify has experienced over the last two years, in particular around its AI-driven service, Threat Matrix, which helps sports leagues, international federations, clubs and major events protect athletes and officials from online abuse.

Speaking on the decision to create Signify Sport and hire Jake Marsh as its Head, Jonathan Hirshler, CEO of Signify said: ‘The huge take up we are seeing with Threat Matrix in the sports world made the decision to create Signify Sport both logical and timely. We are enormously proud of the high-profile clients we work with, helping them protect their athletes, officials and executives from online abuse.  We’re delighted that Jake – a leading practitioner in the sport integrity world – has agreed to join us at such an exciting time for the business.’

Jake Marsh has been working in the sport integrity and governance space for almost 20 years. Most recently he was Global Head of Integrity Services at Stats Perform, a large sports tech business, where he oversaw the establishment of a range of comprehensive services to protect sports from corruption. He also led on the establishment of a partnership between Stats Perform and Signify – with a focus on the detection of online abuse triggered by integrity issues.

On joining Signify, Jake Marsh commented: ‘Working in partnership with the Signify team over the last two years has allowed me to see the positive effects Threat Matrix can have on athletes and sports organisations. The company’s reputation has grown rapidly, becoming a leading voice on the issues relating to online abuse and implementing innovative solutions to tackle them.

‘The chance to head up Signify Sport was too good an opportunity to miss and with Threat Matrix now actively used by some of the world’s leading sports authorities, player unions and international federations, I’m keen to help the business realise its full potential. Signify’s capabilities focused on fan engagement and market intelligence will also be areas of focus for the Sport division. The technology and experience Signify has amassed is mind-blowing and I am incredibly excited about what lies ahead.’

As part of the launch of Signify Sport, the company also announced that seasoned strategic sports consultant John Zerafa has agreed to join Signify on a more permanent basis.

Jonathan Hirshler said: ‘We’re thrilled that John has agreed to join us in this strategic capacity. His knowledge, networks and understanding of the sports world is first rate. We’re delighted to have him advising our Executive Team as we embark on an aggressive growth strategy, building on our already impressive portfolio of global sports organisations and brands. This news, aligned with the appointment of Jake, is an exciting moment for us as a business.’

John Zerafa added: 'It's been a real joy to see Signify grow exponentially in the last few years and I'm really proud to have played my part to get it to this inflection point. Threat Matrix is true world leading tech, and the opportunities for further growth are immense. I'm delighted to formally join Signify in a more permanent capacity to help drive the next chapters of the business and offer wider strategic comms advice to deepen client relationships with fans and consumers.'
